Let's Make a Holiday Banner

If you follow me on social media you know I recently did a Facebook Live on the Elizabeth Craft Designs facebook page where I taught how to create a stunning holiday banner using old favorite dies, some Snow Tex, and pretty ribbon. If you missed it, you can watch it on the replay on youtube at the link at the bottom of this post.

Since I didn't have the Fitted Fishtails die, which has nested banner pennants, I improvised with a die set I already had and that was the Suitcase Special set which has a pennant style page die in it, along with a scalloped border, some small tags, not to mention a bunch of other die pieces I didn't use. (I'll include click-able links below to everything I used.)

The doily-like piece is from the Iris Shutter Add-ons set and worked perfectly on this size banner to frame out each of my letters. I spelled out the word "Merry" on mine, but you can use whatever word you prefer. The letters are from the Stitched Alphabet set which I have popped up with foam tape. While doing the Live stream, there were so many great ideas as substitutes for the letters, like round photos of family members, or cute little die-cut characters like Santa, Mrs. Claus, the reindeer, and so on. (To see some of those comments, you'll need to watch the replay on the Elizabeth Craft Designs facebook page under the "videos" tab rather than YouTube.)

I had fun with Snow Tex on the holly leaves and other stem pieces, along with microfine glitter in two different colors. I show all the steps to using these products in the video.

I used the smaller tags in the die set to create a secondary banner across the top with the word "Very" and I couldn't be happier with how this turned out. I have a spot in my craft room where I change out seasonal banners, and didn't have a holiday one yet, so this was the perfect addition for the Christmas season this year. And I love seeing it everyday when I'm crafting.

Since the Live stream, there have been several viewers who have made their own banners, putting their own twist on them. Some made Christmas cards with the pennant on the front, someone else made them into Christmas ornaments, and others a banner similar to mine. So if you're an Elizabeth Craft Designs fan, check out Facebook for those.

It's Black Friday and I'm staying right here in my craft room. But if you like to shop, don't forget that ECD is having their Black Friday sale until Tuesday! 30% off your entire purchase. I hope you have a lovely day. Thanks for popping in. See below for the product links and video tutorial.
