You've heard of Tim's great Idea-ology line of course, but have you ever altered one of his Assemblage Clocks? Check out my Christmas decor piece below. The possibilities are endless!

That Old World Santa in there has a special place in my heart. I have always loved this stamp ever since the old days of "Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas." Remember those? That's really when I first discovered Tim and all the wonderful products he used. Well, Tim used this Santa stamp on one of his tags and I loved it so much I raced to order it and I swear I use it every single year on something or another. It has to be my all-time favorite holiday stamp.

So back to the clock. I knew I wanted it to be red, so I first hit it with two coats of gesso. I put painter's tape across the glass front so I didn't have to bother taking the glass out. Not hard to do, just tedious.

I painted two coats of red craft paint.

I wanted to add some gold touches and didn't have any gilder's paste, so I went through my stash and found some Vintaj Victorian Gold Patina and Glaze. I mixed up a puddle of each on my non-stick craft sheet and then brushed here and there to add some accents. The glaze extended the drying time so I could spread and smudge the patina where I wanted it, sometimes using my finger. After it was dry, I sprayed a light coat of satin sealer over the whole thing.

Here's just a peek at the inside elements so you can see them better. Don't you love that Santa? He's so sweet looking.

I filled the inside with a small Christmas tree and tiny ornaments, then attached some adornments to the outside as well.

A holiday word band, mirrored star and some colored seam binding accent the lower portion of my clock's exterior.

More mirrored stars and a plaquette adorn the upper right.

Here's another look at the finished clock.

Here's another idea for the assemblage clock I made last year that really keeps time. I still have it in my craft room as my main timekeeper right above my work table. You can view how it was made here.
