Celebrate Today and Always with Bohemian Bazaar

"Delicious" is all I can say about Graphic 45's Bohemian Bazaar papers. Bright and colorful usually isn't my style, but just like ALL Graphic 45 papers, it speaks to me with it's pretty patterns and color combinations. And with a little distressing and inking, those bright colors become more vintage and earthy.

I think you'll see what I mean with this card I created this week...

I always have the same happy dilemma when I create with Graphic 45 papers. Trying to decide which papers in the collection to use. I want to use ALL of them, so I end up using quite a few as I did with this 5 x 7 card. (I almost always create 5 x 7's, by the way, simply due to the increased real estate. I need space to put all those great papers!)

Let me take you through my process of creating this card and maybe you'll give it a try too.

First I began with the Bohemian Bazaar 8 x 8"  paper pad and cut the three horizontal strips:

1 5/8 x 4 1/2"
1 1/2 x 4 1/2 "
1 5/8 x 4 1/2"

(You can decide which one you want to be the shorter one. I made the yellow one the shortest.)

Cut the striped paper 2 1/4 x 4 3/4". I inked all edges with a brownish tan ink (Frayed Burlap Distress Ink by Ranger) then taped the four pieces together and distressed the outer edges, then inked them again.

With a coordinating tan/brown thread in my sewing machine, I stitched around the perimeter.

Cut a piece of Boho Baz paper 1 3/4 x 4 3/4" and border punch the side. Ink edges. Cut a piece of burlap ribbon and fringe the edge. My piece is about 3/4" x 4 3/4".

With double-sided sticky tape, adhere the burlap to the left edge of the paper, then sew a large zig-zag stitch down the paper as shown.

Adhere both units to a card base. I used the dark teal-colored cardstock in the Signature Series cardstock pack by Core-dinations.

Choose your embellishment pieces. I used a Martha Stewart butterfly punch and my Spellbinders foliage dies to cut these pieces from the Boho Baz papers.

For added interest and dimension, I like to ink the edges of my leaves and then burnish the ends with the wooden handle of a piercing tool onto a soft mat to get the leaves to curl a bit.

From one of the cut-aparts in the Boho Baz papers, cut a post card and ink the edges. I stamped "for you" along the bottom left corner with a dark brown ink. The main image is stamped using PaperTrey Ink's "Mat Stack 2" collection and the Mat Stack Die #2.

Add embellishments as desired.

Stamped element is popped up with foam tape.

I think burlap goes so well with Bohemian Bazaar. I have used it on almost every creation with this paper. The added texture is a perfect compliment.

Here's the card again.

Thanks for visiting today. Hope you're inspired to create something beautiful with Bohemian Bazaar.

Have a wonderful weekend!

  4. Truly a beautiful card. I agree with you, Annette, the hardest part is choosing which papers to use. I have difficulty actually cutting the G45 papers (I want to keep both sides). Thanks for sharing your expertise.
