Farmhouse Mother's Day Z-Fold Card

Hello everyone! Happy Mother's Day to all the Mommas out there.

I'm officially a Greenville, South Carolina resident! We've moved from Florida and have been here in Greenville two weeks to the day. Today is Mother's Day and I am finding myself missing my sweet Mom back in Florida. I've made her a special card and I thought I'd share a little tutorial. You can make this card for any occasion by just changing up some of the stamping. I've used Graphic 45's new Farmhouse collection and wonderful dies and stamps from Elizabeth Craft Designs. I'll list links to everything at the end of this post.

I used this reddish orange card stock. Cut two pieces. One at 10" x 7" and one at 10" x 2 1/2".
This is a z-fold card, so you'll score the large piece at 2 1/2" and 5" and the smaller piece at 5" and 7 1/2". Ink edges, if desired.

From the Farmhouse Patterns and Solids, I cut background pieces (the cream colored side) measuring as follows:
Two at 2 1/4" x 6 3/4" and one at 4 3/4" x 6 3/4".
Then from the 8" x 8" Farmhouse paper pad, cut two 2" x 6 1/2" and one at 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" of the Good Life. Adhere together.

Adhere the pieces from the previous step to the large card base. Then cut the following from the same Patterns and Solids paper: One at 4 3/4" x 2 1/4" and two at 2 1/4" x 2 1/4".
From Rise and Shine (from the 8" x 8" pad) cut:
One at 4 1/2" x 2" and two at 2" x 2". Adhere together to base as shown.

Attach the base pieces together as shown. I love Z-fold cards, don't you?

Using the same red-orange card stock and the cream side of the Patterns and Solids, die cut the pieces shown from the Double Heart Insert set and the Retro Alphabet Trio set. I used black cardstock for the thin detail pieces. Be sure to die-cut the heart bouquets several times. I did mine four times and layered two of them together to make a thicker stronger stem. I'll show you why in the next step.

Attach items to the card with everything folded flat. If anything hangs off the edges, that's when I recommend doubling up the thickness, such at this heart bouquet above the word MOM. This just adds stability. I added the For You stamp from Pieces of Life 4 Retro stamp set. After die-cutting the flowers in this set, I adhered them to the cream sided paper, then cut around the edges closely. Same with the letters for MOM.

The larger flowers are popped up with foam adhesive. I tucked a heart bouquet behind them here.

Adorn the squares with more stamping and die-cut pieces, as desired.

Onto the large heart, I stamped the sentiments using two different inks. These stamps are wonderful mixed together. They are from Close to my Heart and I've linked them below. I added one little fussy cut flower overlapping the heart which seems to fill out the space nicely.

My card is done! Z-folds are easy and fun and give your cards that extra Wow factor.
