CHA Designs - Susan's Garden Notes

Hello and happy CHA weekend! The Craft & Hobby Association Mega Show 2016 is underway by the time you read this.  I've posted this a few days ahead, as I won't be blogging during the show, but if you simply cannot wait and want to see some current goodies now, simply follow me on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter all kinds of action straight from the show floor.

Today I'm sharing some news and some fun samples. Starting later this month, I am officially a Design Team member for Elizabeth Craft Designs (ECD) specifically the Susan's Garden Team which will be formally introduced soon on the ECD blog. If you've followed me for very long, you know that I'm a big fan of those beautifully realistic flower dies of Susan Tierney-Cockburn. Ever since I met Susan at CHA two years ago and did a make-n-take in her booth, I have been in love with these dies, so I was delighted when I got the invitation to join her Design Team. Be sure to watch for posts every month featuring projects I've designed with her dies.

Meanwhile, back to CHA. I created a few quick samples for the Susan's Garden booth and thought I'd share them now.

First up is this pretty tag using the new Zinnia die. The tag is from ECD's Tags & More 1 - Lace set and measures about 3" x 6".

I studied some images of different zinnias and found that I was attracted to the bold and bright colors, so I chose this shade of deep orangey-peach.

The stamp is also from Susan's line, called Sunshine and Love. I've stamped it with a Chocolate brown ink to match the feel of the tag.

My second project is this easel card featuring the new Cosmos die. Cosmos come in a wide variety of colors as well, and I discovered Chocolate Cosmos which are a deep burgundy that I really loved. The stamp is called Let Us Be Grateful. I used the photo corners from the Tag set listed above. I love how there are so many fun options in this set.

This is such a simple and pretty flower to assemble with Susan's tool kit

Finally, my third project is this 5" x 7" greeting card using the pretty new Southern Magnolia die. I've also used the new Grapevine Wreath Oval set behind the Happy Birthday die.

I'm a Florida girl and we have magnolia trees all over the place here. My next door neighbor has one and I love to watch for the big fragrant blooms around May or June. Not only is the flower big and beautiful but the leaves are as well. They have a very shiny look and are thick and smooth. I mimicked that shiny look by painting some Glossy Accents with a flat paintbrush over each leaf after they were colored, veined and shaped.

Be sure to follow the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog for the new Design Team announcement as well as when these new products will become available. I'm thrilled to be a part of it all!

AND...

Stay tuned tomorrow for some fun projects I designed for Tim Holtz's Sizzix booth. You won't want to miss that one. Needless to say, I'm BEYOND excited about this.

And, of course, I've got many projects to share using the new Graphic 45 collections, so stay tuned! Better yet, follow me on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter to get the news ASAP. All links in the right column of my blog.

Thanks for stopping in today. Have a fabulous weekend!
