This week's Play Date Cafe color challenge (#72) was definitely outside my coloring box. How to work in pink with blue and orange? And exactly how can that possibly look appealing?
This is precisely why I LOVE doing the PDC challenges! I am always thrilled with how much I learn about color combinations and how it pushes me outside of my comfort zone.
Here is the color challenge we had to follow...
Such bold, brilliant color!
And here is the card I designed...
I was very excited to use some brand new Stamper's Anonymous stamps by Tim Holtz that I picked up today, thanks to my friend Charmin who attended a scrapper's Treasure Hunt on the West Coast of Florida this weekend. I texted her my Tim Holtz wish list and she found many of the items I wanted. The card above showcases his new Papillon stamp set which was at the top of my fave list. At the top of the card in the background is Tim's tissue tape that I ink-distressed with browns and blues. The pattern paper is from Close To My Heart's Lucky paper pack.
Those Sunset metal accents are from CTMH's Sunset Mini Medley Accents which I aged a bit with brown Staz-On ink. The blue colored edge anchors are from a retired set of accents.
The stamping on the papers adhered to the metal tags is done in Desert Sand ink and the butterflies and moths are stamped in Pacifica with a touch of Cotton Candy highlighting them. The background stamping of the script is done in Sunset and age distressed with Desert Sand and more Cotton Candy.
Here's another look at the whole card...
Thanks so much for stopping by. I encourage you to enjoy creating something of your own with this color challenge today.
