Compendium Challenge 9 Stamps & Framelits

I'm always so excited for the reveal of a new Compendium of Curiosities Challenge! Challenge #9 is Stamps and Framelits and can be found on page 63 in the Compendium of Curiosities Volume III book. You can check out all the details about this great challenge at the end of my post.

Meanwhile, I decided on a pop-up card for this challenge using Sizzix Pop-n-Cuts dies.

The card measures 5" x 5" and features the "French Flight" Sizzix Framelits set. The "technique" is shown here on the front. I'm still a big fan of the old Vintage Shabby paper stash and knew it would be the perfect choice and blue for this theme.

With the exception of the pop of red inside, the overall color scheme is blues with touches of black. I think it's rather French indeed.

To really get the most out of this great framelits set, I went beyond the technique and tried a few things I'd like to share with you. First, rather than adhere the "technique" butterflies right to the card front, I thought I'd cut out the same butterfly shapes from my background paper. I saved the cut-out pieces for the inside of my card. Then I adhered the background paper to my black cardstock base.

The black cardstock base shows through, giving it a bit of drama. I bent and curved the wings to my butterflies and adhered them to the black spaces.

I cut the Eiffel Tower twice: once after stamping onto some of the blue Vintage Shabby paper and once from black card stock which serves as a sort of drop shadow. I popped it up with foam tape then added the fragment, letters and charm.

I grabbed some Botanical Remnant Rubs and cut apart some small pieces.

And rubbed them onto the butterflies for the inside.

The diamond pattern will be the perfect place to write a personal message.

Okay, now it's YOUR turn. The hardest part is deciding which Framelits set to use!
