Bohemian Bazaar Hexagon Box

Yes indeed, I am having a splendid time creating with Graphic 45's new mid-season release "Bohemian Bazaar." I got another generous box of Design Team goodies yesterday and couldn't wait to make something so I dug through my alterables stashed in the garage and remembered I had a hexagon tin.

Here's how it looked before. I got it at an antique store for a few dollars and saw the potential right away. It's a candy tin from England and it's rather cool just as it is.

And this is what I did to it. Bohemian Bazaar is such a bright, fun paper line! The designs are gorgeous and so easy to create with. And with the help of all those lovely Petaloo flowers and trims, you just can't go wrong. They coordinate perfectly.

The inside of the box is plain tin, so when I added a hexagon piece of paper to the bottom, it created a mirror effect all around. Cool, right? It's a bit like a kaleidoscope.

I painted four wooden doll head/knobs from the craft store with teal acrylic paint, then glued the flat areas to the bottom of my tin.

This image is cut from the main paper in the collection and popped up with foam tape for dimension. I inked the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Inks in the following colors: Picked Raspberry, Peacock Feathers, Ripe Persimmon, and Scattered Straw.

Another look at those pretty Petaloo flowers and trims.

I mixed in a few hand-cut leaves from the paper. They were inked with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink.

More Petaloo goodies. These are Glass Flowers with Leaves from the Spring Darjeeling Collection. I love how they sparkle in the light.

The pretty burlap ribbon on top came in my first Graphic 45 Design Team box. They gave us a giant bag full of various gorgeous ribbons!

I wish I could tell you exactly when the new Bohemian Bazaar collection will be available, but I'm not sure. I do know that it's very soon! So keep a watch on your local scrapbook shop or your favorite online store. You will love every single sheet of it.

I believe they're talking about me today over at the Graphic 45 blog, so be sure to hop over there as they are introducing the new 2013 Design Team every day for the next few weeks. Thanks for stopping by today. Enjoy your Wednesday!

  4. I just love what you did with this tin. I have several tins that I just can not part ways with and never tried to cover them. So I need to ask what is the best adhesive to use if I am using our CTMH paper or fabric? Is there special prep to the tin or extra drying time? Appreciate any help or advice. Thank you Jean

  5. Thank you all for such nice comments. This paper is so extremely pretty in person. Jean, to answer your question, I always use liquid glue like CTMH's Bonding Memories Glue for tins. (in craft stores, I think it's called 2-way glue). It allows paper to slide a little when working it into place and it bonds very quickly and holds up great. As for fabric, I would probably use a multi-mediam brushed on with a sponge brush. Hope that helps!
