Monday Switcharoo

I'm the type to get bored quickly with too much of the same thing. Aren't you? While I love the Mojo Monday sketch challenges, I was itching to find something different this week. Then I came upon the Paper Crafts Connection blog where a whole new world opened up to me. And they have sketches too! Here's one of two of the April sketches. (I plan to do the other tomorrow.)

Here's my card. I plan on uploading it to the PCC Blog in hopes of winning a year's subscription....

I'll tell you about the card in a sec, but I have to back up a bit first. Last week, I grabbed a few friends and headed to Orlando to the Scrappy Boutique because they recently got in a lot of the new Tim Holtz stuff from CHA (and there's no place in my county that sells lots of the Tim Holtz line.) It was a GREAT day. We spent a few good hours in the store, burnt up the cash register with our purchases, then went to lunch at Chipotle. Yum! We sat outside and soaked up the sun while we gobbled up our Burrito Bowls. What a great way to kick off my (wink) Spring Break. I only wish I had thought to snap a photo of us girls.

One of my purchases at the shop was Tim's newest book "A Compendium of Curiosities." (Oooooh-ahhhhhh.) It is FAB-U-LOSO! I can't wait to really sit and read it cover to cover. I was hoping they had his new paper packs in, but not yet. Between that book and my Stamper's Sampler magazine that I picked up today which featured Wendy Vecchi, I was inspired! So I ran to my scraproom and got to playing.

So back to the card. Here's a breakdown of products used:

• Sizzix Bigz Top Note Die (Stampin' Up exclusive)
• Tim Holtz Idea-ology Journaling Ticket
• 7 gypsies pattern paper (Annonce and Catalonia)
• "Perk Up" from Crafty Secrets' Coffee & Tea stamp set
• And the coffee cups with steam, I do not remember and I have no packaging. Sorry!

From CLOSE TO MY HEART
• Textured cardstock
• Booksmart chipboard
• Pewter mini medley accents
• Black ribbon
• Simple Stitches stamp set
• Noted Backgrounds stamp set

I did some wicked sanding on the textured cardstock, added some heavy ink distressing, and edge distressing with my scissors and fingernails. (The reason I'm constantly in need of manicure.)

Here's a few close-ups. I just love close-up views of things, don't you?

Let me know what you think. Good or bad. Meanwhile, I'll get my thinking cap on for the next sketch and see you tomorrow.

  1. I love this card. Not only is it artistic, and deliciously distressed, it calls to the cover lover in me. Fantastic !
